A prison guard and his son went to Avellaneda to buy a motorcycle that they had seen on Facebook Marketplace. Upon arriving at the place, the driver got off to meet the motorcycle sellers.
But it was all an ambush. The 50-year-old agent was shot in the pelvis. The boy took the gun and shot at the assailants. He wounded one, also 16. Facebook Marketplace is the alternative buying/selling service to Mercado Libre. It has been operating in Argentina since 2018 and quickly became popular, as did virtual scams and thefts.
