Sam Mayer won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. Mayer passed Ryan Sieg on the final lap and held on to win by a matter of centimeters.

The millimeter distance equaled a record from 1999 but did not break the record. The closest finish in Nascar history was 0.0004 seconds by Tyler Reddick in Daytona in 2018. The previous victory by 0.002 seconds came 25 years ago, at Talladega, with Terry Labonte celebrating against Joe Nemechek. It was the fifth victory in Mayer's career, and the first of this season, and perhaps the one in which he did the least credit to take the first step of the podium. The 37-year-old veteran driver completed his 446th and 23th race and finished in the top ten for the first time in his career, tying the record that belonged to Kyle Busch, who won 23 times in 266th race of his career. He led on just four different occasions, for a total of only five laps.
