Italy's hospitality sector rose 7% on the pre-COVID period to 92 billion euros in food consumed outside the home in 2023. The number of paid workers rose 6.4% on 2022 to 1.4 million, sector group FIPE said.

The sector's added value was up 3.9% to over 54 billion euros at current prices, it said."The deep hole generated by the pandemic emergency is definitively behind us," said FipE President Lino Enrico Stoppani.        The number of people employed in the hospitality sector in Italy rose by 1.3% on last year to 2.2 million. The figure is up from 2.1 million in 2013. The industry is expected to grow by 2.7% in the next five years, according to a report by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CPCI) The CPCI says it expects the sector to grow at a rate of 1.5% a year until 2023, and 2.8% by 2025.
