Hostage taking in the Netherlands. Several people were taken hostage in a café in the Dutch town of Ede, not far from Arnhem.
A large police presence cordoned off the area in the center of the city, Dutch media reported. Around 150 apartments were evacuated due to the threat. There are no signs of a terrorist motive, according to the police in the province of Gelderland on X (formerly Twitter). A police spokesman did not want to provide further details when asked by broadcaster NOS.
