A fire broke out in an aircraft factory south of Houston, Texas, early Saturday. Hundreds of residents were told to take refuge in their homes for several hours.

The fire chief said there was no danger of explosion, but "airborne particles could be respiratory irritants" The alert was lifted around 2:00 p.m. (local time) Officials said it would remain in place until at least three air quality tests were conducted, in which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency participated.
