Important Adriatic highway closed since rock fall: Citizens fight to repair the Plöcken Pass. After a rock fall, the road was closed until February 2024.
A citizens' campaign is now trying to create more signatures to create an emergency road. For the locals, it means detours of up to 90 kilometers to get to the Carnic Alps on both sides of the border. The 1,357 meter high Plöken Pass leads over the main Carnic ridge from Austrian Carinthia to Italian Friuli and represents the shortest road connection between Munich and the Adriatics.
