Public transport is the primary mode of transport used by Parisians and residents of the inner suburbs. In Île-de-France, it is also the main means of transport to go to work, and represents 45% of journeys, compared to 33% by car.

Public transport is mainly used, at 67%, by Ile- de-France residents who travel to study. Non-Paris residents, tourists and immobile people were not targeted by the survey, which was carried out by the Paris Region Institute.
