In Canada, a 19th century shipwreck emerges from the seabed. At the end of January, the remains of a ship washed up on the coast of Newfoundland.

A team of researchers was dispatched to determine the exact origin and age of the wreck. “There have been thousands of shipwrecks over the years” near Newfoundland, where “European navigation has existed for hundreds of years,” said Jamie Brake. The region is known for its shallow rocks and as a real “ magnet” for wrecks.
