In Iceland, after the volcanic eruption, 28,000 homes no longer have heating. The hot water supply was suspended following a burst pipe, after this Thursday's eruption, which is now over.

The temperature in the Grindavik region dropped to -7°C overnight. Partial power cuts were noted Friday evening in several towns on the peninsula because the electrical distribution system, not designed for heating homes, was overheating. The authorities have called for using these devices “sparingly” and only when necessary.
