A Holocaust memorial will be erected near Perrache station in Lyon. It will be inaugurated on January 26, 2025 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz camp.
The monument will be made up of 1,173 m of rails symbolizing the 1, 173 km of railway tracks which separate the Lyon station from the entrance to the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Five hundred thousand euros were invested in this project to which local authorities contributed significantly.
