'Eid al-Fitr' marks the end of the Ramadan fast in Italy. In Mazara del Vallo, the doors of the school opened to welcome Muslim children and their mothers.

The 200 Tunisian children who attend the 'Borsellino-Ajello' institute celebrated with their mothers in the courtyard. The school is located near the Kasbah, a few hundred meters from the mosque where the muezzin recites the adhan five times a day to call Muslims to obligatory prayers. The migratory flow from Tunisia began in the 1980s and has never stopped: "We are already in the third generation", says the mayor Salvatore Quinci - entire families have settled here and have integrated into our social fabric, working on fishing boats. The institute is dedicated to interculturality both due to the location of theSchool complexes in the historic center and with reference to the percentage of students of Arab origin coming mainly from the Maghreb area.
