The IDF decided to consolidate and recruit reserve personnel for the air defense system. The announcement was made in the shadow of threats from Iran following the assassination of a Quds Force senior in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Reza Zahidi.
The fear in the IDF is that the Iranians will try using Shiite militias in Iraq, Yemen, Syria and even Lebanon to challenge the air force. Security officials said that they do not rule out the possibility that Iranian revenge will come from an unexpected place around the world against Israeli government symbols or personalities.
