In Vienne, hunters have the right to hunt wild boar closer to houses. Vienne prefecture has removed the ban on hunting less than 150 m from a home.
The measure explicitly aims to “increase the pressure” on wild boars and limit damage to crops. In 2023, 756 ha were destroyed by big game, including 60% by wild Boars alone, notes the Vienne Hunters' Federation. Nearly 1,200 private hunting territories are directly affected.
