Consumer prices in January were 2.9 percent higher than in the same month last year. This is the lowest value since June 2021 when it was 2.4 percent.

In December the annual inflation rate was 3.7 percent. Energy costs 2.8 percent less in January than a year earlier, according to preliminary data. Food prices rose by 3.8 per cent in January, while energy prices rose 2.7 per cent. Economists expect the inflation rate to fall further this year.
