The Head of State begins a one and a half day trip to Guyana this Monday. His last and only visit dates back to October 2017, when Guyana was emerging from a major general strike.
With its nearly 300,000 inhabitants (ten times more than in the 1950s), Guyana is the poorest territory in France. In 2022, Marine Le Pen came well ahead of the second round of the presidential election (60%) and Jean-Luc Mélenchon gathered more than half of the votes in the first.
