Iran accuses Israel of bombing its consulate in Syria and killing one of its top commanders. The bombing, on which Israel has not commented, could mark an escalation in the Israeli army's ongoing attacks against Iranian military officials and allies in Syria.

The Iranian ambassador, Hossein Akbari, indicated that at least seven people had died, but that rescuers were still searching for other bodies under the rubble. Israel, which rarely acknowledges such attacks, said it had no comment on these Syrian media reports.
