Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, wrote a letter to his Maltese counterpart, who currently heads the UN Security Council. Erdan: Iran carried out a direct attack from its territory with more than 200 drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles towards Israel in flagrant violation of the UN charter and international law.

“The attack is also a serious and dangerous escalation ,” he wrote in support of his request. Iran also boasted about the attack, Erdan wrote in his letter to Malta's counterpart. The letter was sent to the head of the Security Council, who is also the Maltese ambassador to the U.N. and heads the committee that convenes the United Nations. The Security Council must "immediately convene a Security Council meeting to unequivocally condemn Iran for these serious violations and act immediately to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization," Erdan said in the letter. The U.S. State Department called the attack an "act of war" and called for an immediate response.
