Is China trying to attack Taiwan here? Sensitive satellite images surfaced. China has apparently rebuilt a small but strategically important part of Taiwan's capital Taipei - possibly to practice an attack on the island nation.
China considers Taiwan part of its territory, even though the Communist Party has never controlled the democratically ruled nation. Both countries are only separated from each other by the 130 to 180 kilometer wide Taiwan Strait. A large-scale simulation by the US think tank CSIS last year concluded that in the event of an invasion, China would first try to eliminate the majority of Taiwan’s navy and air force through bombing and then encircle the island.
