Israel announces seizure of 800 hectares of land in occupied West Bank. The announcement, made on the day of Antony Blinken's visit to Israel, concerns the largest seizure of Palestinian land since the Oslo Accords in 1993.
Israeli colonization in the West Bank (including annexed East Jerusalem) is illegal under international law, regularly reminds the UN. The establishment and expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories constitutes “a war crime” and “risks eliminating any practical possibility of establishing a viable Palestinian state,” the UN says.
