Israel and Hamas are moving toward an agreement to achieve a ceasefire and release hostages held in the war-torn Gaza Strip. Talks continue in Egypt for a ceasefire that will allow the release of the hostages still in Gaza.
Israel intensified its offensive on Rafah, the southern city of the enclave where 1.4 million displaced Palestinians have fled to take refuge from the fighting in other areas. The city of Rafah received artillery fire from the Israeli Army this Tuesday, for the first time since Israel announced a ground incursion into the area on Friday.
