Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon kill two. On Wednesday morning, Hamas' military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, said in a statement that it had launched two volleys of Grad rockets at two military sites in northern Israel.

These attacks from southern Lebanon come “in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip and the assassination’ of a senior Hamas official on January 2 in Lebanon, the statement adds. Lebanese Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, has exchanged near-daily fire with the Israeli army since war broke out between Israel and the Gaza-based Palestinian Islamist movement in October.
