Italy: dismantling of a network of counterfeiters which was flooding France. Several dozen people, including three French people, were arrested in Naples.
The group produced around “six million euros in total” in 20, 50 and 100 euro notes. The 50 euro notes were called the "Maradona", named after the Argentinian star Diego Maradona who played for Napoli, or "Pelé",named after the Brazilian football star. They paid a mafia clan to work in security.
