Italy on Monday bade farewell to Roberto Cavalli, the influential Florentine fashion designer who died Friday night aged 83. Dubbed "the king of free-and-easy and sexy wear", Cavalli had become a father for the sixth time a year ago.

His funeral took place in Florence's Basilica di San Miniato alMonte. Toni Scervino, Leonardo Ferragamo and Sandro Fratini and showbiz stars including Carlo Conti, Leonardo Pieraccioni, Afef Jnifen, and Paolo Ruffini were among the guests of honour at Cavalli's funeral. The funeral was followed by a long round of applause by fashion world figures like ToniScervino and Leonardo Ferraggamo. The fashion designer died on Friday night at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, four children and a step-daughter. The designer's funeral was held at the Basilica of San Minio alMontero in Florence.
