Jaime Rojo has been photographing the monarch butterfly for nearly 20 years. The Spaniard has won the World Press Photo award again and again with a work on this iconic species.

The monarch butterfly population in North America has been reduced by 90% in the last 40 years. Rojo: “It is unlikely that the monarch Butterfly will become extinct, but we are going to lose the magic of its migration”. The monarch is “a rock star of biodiversity”, says Rojo.
