A woman and two police officers were killed Thursday by a madman in a rural area of Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The suspect, who would be a farmer in his thirties, was still holed up inside a building in the evening.
Residents around Nakano were called by local authorities to self-isolate. Intentional homicide is very rare in Japan, where the carrying of firearms is highly regulated. The incident occurred in the town of Nakano, northeast of the central city of Nagono.
