President of the United States, Barack Obama, met with the head of the Southern Command in Ushuaia, Argentina, on Friday. The meeting was part of an effort to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The U.S. is sending a Hercules aircraft to Argentina to help with air refueling and disaster preparedness. It is the latest in a series of agreements between Washington and Buenos Aires on issues of security, defense and economics. The United States and Argentina have been working together since the 1980s on a number of issues, including the Falklands War.
