Job cuts, project cancellations, billions in losses: wind energy companies are under massive pressure. World's largest wind farm developer Orsted has now pulled the ripcord after losses worth billions.

The industry plays a key role in the energy transition. Wind turbines on land and at sea are intended to form the backbone of a climate-friendly energy supply in Germany and other European countries. The target for electricity generation capacity by the end of the decade of 50 gigawatts (GW) will be reduced to 35 to 38 GW.
