Joe Biden achieved a large victory in the South Carolina Democratic primary. The appointment marked the beginning of the party's contest with a view to the November elections, where it could once again face Donald Trump.

The current president made a big difference to Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips, his two main rivals. With these results, Biden would take the 55 delegates that South Carolina allocates, although it would still be a small number compared to the almost 2,000 delegates he needs to officially proclaim himself as the Democratic candidate.
