Judges, police officers and lawyers who freed dangerous criminals fall in Ecuador. Justice launched a huge anti-corruption operation with dozens of raids in eight provinces.

Officials of the judiciary and police, accused of organized crime, illicit enrichment and influence peddling. The investigation originated after the prosecution seized cell phones and gained access to the messages of drug trafficker Leandro Norero, who was murdered in October 2022 in a prison in the central Andean region of the country. The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, declared the "internal armed conflict" and targeted organized crime groups.
