The 87th edition of the Banking Convention is being held in Acapulco. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the three candidates for the presidency will attend.

The event is loaded with symbolism and signs of the future. The ABM asks three specific tasks: invest in the physical infrastructure, train populations that could benefit from manufacturing jobs, and take care of the rule of law. It is Carranza's first as president of the Association of Banks of Mexico, and, more than nervous, he says he is excited about the event. The convention is the most important financial event of the year in Mexico, says the ABM's president, Julio Carranzas (Mexico City, 1959). The event will take place from September 26 to 28 at the Palacio Mundo Imperial Hotel, in the city of Acapulco, and will be open to the public and the media. For more information, go to www.abm.org. President López Obrador has promised to respect and not change banking regulation. Between 2018 and 2024, banking capital investment grew 60%, investment in technology has been almost 25,000 million pesos per year. What is needed is a technically qualified workforce to meet all the employment demand that is going to be generated, he says. He also asks for technical training for companies that are going to come to Mexico to manufacture very specific and sometimes even sophisticated things. In recent years, big players have entered the financial sector, although they are not banks. What will the sector look like in five years? What will Mexico's economy look like five years from now? What are the prospects for the country's economy in the next decade? What do you think the country will look like by the end of the year?
