Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced this Monday a farewell tour starting next June 3, one day after the elections. The head of the Executive insisted that he will retire from public life at the end of his six-year term, in October.

“I'm going to tour the entire country, I'm not going to be able to tour all the regions, but, at least, I'll be in all the states before handing over the presidential sash," the president said. The announcement of the so-called “goodbye tour” comes after the opposition last week claimed government interference in the presidential elections. Xóchitl Gálvez, the candidate of the Corazón y Fuerza por México coalition, called for the cancellation of the Mañaneras, but the National Electoral Institute unanimously rejected the ban on the president's morning conferences. The objective of the tour is “to give thanks to the people,” explained the politician.
