CGIL and UIL call for 4-hour general strike, 8 in construction and in Emilia-Romagna. "In Italy, work has been devalued too much," says CGIL secretary Maurizio Landini.

Events and initiatives are planned at a territorial level throughout Italy. Strike proclaimed in support of job security, for a "fair tax reform" and for "a new social model of doing business" and will last four hours for the entire private sector and eight hours for construction and for Emilia Romagna. In Rome the strike is expected from 8pm to midnight; in Turin from 6pm to 10pm; in Genoa from 1pm to 5pm and in Bologna from 1am to 4.30pm. In Milan the prefect has ordered ATM metro, tram and bus operators to work in local public transport. The entire air transport sector is excluded from membership. In Brescia, the general secretary of the CGIL will conclude the demonstration and in Rome, the Uil will hold an assembly.
