Poor road maintenance associated with climatic excesses has caused a significant deterioration of the French network. Potholes that the motorist tries to avoid by slaloming, bitumen that cracks here and there, sometimes entire sections of road that collapse.
If the poorly maintained road network shows signs of weakness worrying, it also suffers from a disease whose extent we have not yet measured. Climate change is putting our 1.1 million kilometers of network under severe strain, one of the longest in Europe.
