Large construction sites on the Lech: “Uniper” is building fish ladders on barrages. There should be fish ladder at all barrages by the end of 2027.
The passes are designed for the leader fish Huchen, an upriver migrating fish that is now threatened with extinction. Together, both passes are intended to extend the continuity over a section of around 24 kilometers. Lower reaches of tributary rivers such as the Illach and Gruberbach should also be accessible again for upward migrating fish.
