The UN called on Monday for an end to the violence which has pitted Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah for six months. Since the day after the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas on October 7, exchanges of fire have pitted the Israeli army against Lebanese Hezbollah.

Nearly 10,000 UNIFIL soldiers are deployed along the Blue Line, the demarcation line set by the UN between Lebanon and Israel. At least 363 people, mainly Hezbollah fighters, including at least 70 civilians, were killed in Lebanon, according to an AFP count, and 18 people in Israel.
