[HIGHLIGHTS] LFI calls for the organization of a referendum after the announcement of a 10 billion euro cut in public spending

President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Junker, has called for an end to austerity measures. Junker said the European Council of Ministers should make a decision by the end of the year on how to cut the deficit.

The European Commission has said it will not make any changes to the EU budget until after a vote in the European Parliament in May. The Commission has also said it would not make changes to its own budget unless the European Union made a change to its budget.
