A 50-year-old man was seriously burned by calcium hydroxide – better known as lime – while filling a silo in a factory in Limay (Yvelines) The accident occurred this Tuesday, around 3:15 p.m. The victim, a truck driver, was covered in around a hundred kilos of slaked lime, causing serious burns over a large part of his body.

The man was treated as an absolute emergency in a Parisian hospital. Just over 800 workplace accidents were fatal in France in 2019, compared to 589 five years earlier.
