Mónica Ojeda was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and now lives in Spain. Her latest novel, Electric Shamans at the Festival of the Sun, is set in the Andes.

It is about people who flee the city to dance in nature, in a kind of rave in the middle of the collapse of the world. The author is optimistic about the future, but also realistic, and she doesn't want to be naive. She says that art is a place where one can delve into very complicated territories, but it is also a place of enjoyment, as well as danger, as in her novel.. The book is published by Random House, priced £16.99, and is available in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
