Madrid will earn 39 million more a year by raising the price of water for gardens, swimming pools and parks. The first rate increase in a decade focuses on “luxury, non-essential uses” to guarantee supply.

The Canal de Isabel II expects to raise 39.1 million euros more per year after increasing water consumption rates. The impact of the change will be even greater in the first year, as it will skyrocket to 57.3 million euros, the company says.
