The earthquake occurred Thursday off the coast of Fukushima department, in northeastern Japan, without triggering a tsunami warning. It was felt in the capital Tokyo and in parts of the city's suburbs. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.0.
