Marcus Anthony Eriz, 27, was sentenced to 40 years to life in state prison for murdering 6-year-old Aiden Leos. Eriz shot at a car in which Aiden was traveling, on a highway in Orange County, California.

Aiden's family did not attend the hearing, while Eriz spoke for the first time, apologizing to the minor's loved ones: “I'm very sorry for putting everyone through this. I hurt everyone around me. I am responsible for everyone's pain and suffering" The driver of the Volkswagen, Wynne Lee, 26, also of Costa Mesa, has been charged with a felony of concealment and a misdemeanor of carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. The young woman faces a maximum sentence of three years in state jail and one year in Orange county jail if convicted of both charges, while she awaits trial and remains free under GPS monitoring, after post $100,000 bail in July 2021. “Marcus Eriz pulled out his gun because he wanted the world to know what he was capable of, and what he took was the life of a 6- year-old boy,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said.
