The last thirteen families of La Renaude refused to leave their apartments, disappointed by the rehousing proposals made by their social landlord. A quest which ended last Friday with the establishment of an agreement validated in the prefecture by the city of Marseille, the metropolis, the social landlord and the State.

“The families are happy. They no longer believed in it,” breathes Sami Benfers, municipal councilor in Marseille. The neighborhood had gradually fallen into disrepair with the emergence of drug trafficking, a vector of numerous settling of scores. The site will be destroyed with a view to reconstruction of its social housing, says Patrick Amico, deputy mayor of Marseilles in charge of housing. “It’s a very nice project. Before long, we will all return to La Renaude to reaffirm the outlines of this project with the residents,’ predicts SamiBenfers. ‘It is now up to HMP to rehouse families as soon as possible, in cooperation with the meetropolis and other landlords’
