Maternity leave: the government wants to allow elected officials to “take their leave without loss of compensation”. At present, communities cannot supplement the daily allowances paid by Social Security for elected officials who have ceased all professional activity.
A bill was tabled in the Assembly by Renaissance MP Violette Spillebout and Communist MP Sébastien Jumel. A senatorial text aiming to ‘create a status for local elected officials’ must be debated in the hemicycle of the upper house.
