Metal thieves shut down the route from Frankfurt to Stuttgart. Several long-distance trains were canceled on Monday morning.
The theft was discovered in the morning on the route between Mannheim Central Station in Baden-Württemberg and Lampertheim in Hesse. The perpetrators also stole several hundred meters of cable, which was important for the DB's control and security technology. Most recently, a cable theft near Mannheim shortly before Christmas caused a stir, anger and severe delays in holiday traffic.
