The governor of Quintana Roo, a Mexican state located on the Yucatán Peninsula, has asked Mexico's National Defense Secretariat to step up security in Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. 200 soldiers, including members of the army and the National Guard, will be present in Tulum alone.
