Mexico breaks diplomatic relations with Ecuador. This decision was taken immediately after the arrest of the former vice-president of Ecuador in the Mexican embassy in Quito.
Mexico announced on Friday ‘the immediate severance’ of its diplomatic Relations with Ecuador after Ecuadorian police officers invaded the embassy to arrest Jorge Glas who had taken refuge there. “Given the flagrant violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the injuries suffered by Mexican diplomatic personnel in Ecuador, Mexico announces the immediate severedance of diplomatic relations,” wrote the Minister of Foreign Affairs Alicia Bárcena on the social network.
