Michèle Alliot-Marie tried in July for illegal acquisition of interests in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. The former minister is targeted for her alleged role in paying subsidies to an association chaired by her father, Bernard Marie, when she was deputy mayor.

A judicial investigation was opened in 2013 in Nanterre. The referral, which concerns facts dating back more than 12 years, is based on serious confusion in the understanding of this file, her lawyers said in mid-January.
