Giovanni CanioMazzaro is accused of fraudulent removal of assets and false declaration of income. The matter at the center of the trial concerns the sale of the 'Unica' yacht which took place on 1 April 2019.
For the defense, however, there is a lack of evidence and therefore an acquittal was requested "because the fact does not exist," says the Milan prosecutor Paolo Filippini. The FdI senator's position was dismissed, and he was accused of embezzling more than €1.5 million from his partner Daniela Santanchè. He was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison and the confiscation of almost 393 thousand euros. The trial is expected to last until the end of the month, with the verdicts expected to be announced in the next few days, according to the Milan Prosecutor's Office.
