Canteens function in Argentina, and in other parts of Latin America, as neighborhood spaces where millions of people complement their diet and also function as places of accompaniment and socialization. There are almost 4,000 spaces registered and validated by the Government, according to a request for information made by the Argentine Social Debt Observatory in 2022, although social organizations raise the figure to 50,000.
