The couple's marriage ended when she had to return to her home in Oakland, California, for a divorce hearing. The author and her musician husband have been together for 17 years and are still together. They have a son, a daughter, a son-in-law, and a daughter who are all living in the U.S. and have no plans to move to another country. They say they hope their story can help other couples who are separated by distance to find their way back to each other and their marriage. They hope to write a book about their experiences, which they hope to publish in the next few years.
